Andrius Kuncina has been working in the national and international media for over 20 years, during which he has had hands-on experience of all of its genres -- print, radio, television, and web, including lifestyle reporting, talk shows, and hard news -- both on/off camera/mic. Currently, he is an audio producer at the central English language newsroom of the Prague-based Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty responsible for processing an endless flow of speeches, statements, live events, and news conferences from around the world to produce concise audio bites and quotes that make news.
Glenn Kates is Manager of Digital Initiatives at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), where he explores new avenues for engaging with audiences using digital and social tools. He also works with RFE/RL journalists in Eastern Europe and Central Asia on reporting using digital media. Before joining RFE/RL in June, Glenn led social media development at the Moscow bureau of The New York Times, helping journalists use a broad range of tools to enhance coverage of events in Russia and the CIS. Glenn earned a BA from Binghamton University and a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University.
Azamat holds his BA in Economics from Ural State University and MA in Economics and Econometrics from CERGE-EI. Now he is a PhD candidate at Charles University in Prague writing his dissertation on economic theory of advertising. Azamat has been teaching economics in different universities of Czech Republic and Russia since 2010. He mainly teaches Microeconomics, Industrial Organization and Economic Analysis of Advertising. In his opinion, an application of economic theory to modern marketing is of current interest nowadays, therefore he is into topics associating marketing and economics.
Emily Thompson completed her Master’s degree in Philology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She holds a BA in English and French Literature from Kansas State University, and has worked for five years in journalism and communications in the U.S. and Europe, including as Business and Special Sections editor for The Prague Post, and as a contributor to The Global Post and Public Radio International.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Douglas has lived in Prague for over 20 years. He has been working with brands as a designer and strategist since 1996 and until recently ran the Cocoon Group strategy department and agency communications, helping them grow from a local packaging design studio into a well-known international branding agency. His past and present clients include Coca Cola, P&G, Philip Morris, Nestle, Unilever, and other well known local and international brands. Douglas¹s areas of expertise include innovation solutions, portfolio management, and modernization of brand image.
Mediadesigner. Member of Design Union of Russia. Twenty years of professional experience in media, advertising and visual communication industry. Creator and leading developer of the projects: Electronic Tour Guide (Prague) and Interplay Medium (London). The field of professional interests: new media, interactive objects design and engineering.
Produsser of radio morning show “Just radi.O.“ Tatiana has a degree in History from Odessa University . Along with in-depth study of English language, she mastered German, Italian, and recently Czech language. She joined Radio in 2000. She started her carreer as correspondent, then as a producer of the morning show, newscaster , interviewer, and as a producer and radio FEEL JUST ROCK .
Larisa Balanovskaya has worked for 15 years for various international organizations, such as Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Swiss Development and Cooperation office in Kyrgyzstan, and as a specialist at the International Relations Department at the Kyrgyz – Russian Slavic University in Bishkek. She has been involved in various projects in the fields of multimedia. Through the years of experience Larisa has developed a good network of contacts with local NGOs, institutes, colleges and universities, independent initiatives and international networks in countries of former Soviet Union. In addition, she organized and implemented a good number of workshops, training courses and conferences.
RFE/RL Multimedia Trainer. Dragan says “Everything I've learned over the past 15 years has laid the foundation for my work as a trainer. I've worked as a cameraman in the field and in the studio, a video editor for TV stations in Serbia and the Czech Republic, as a sound technician on live radio shows, and on various projects in audio and video post-production. As a multimedia trainer, I'd like the training itself to be a break from my routine as I help my colleagues learn new skills that will orient them in an increasingly complex multimedia environment”
Web editor for RFE/RL’S Russian Service, responsible for overall site development and maintenance. Anton has organized and taken part in numerous in-house and outside training programs and seminars for improving Website interaction and usability, Internet marketing and portal management. He has also conducted workshops targeted at various audiences for utilizing social network sites, SEO, Web concepts and improvements.
Internet product manager at RFE/RL. Arkady joined Internet Technology, after spending a couple of years with training department as a journalism trainer. While in training department, Arkady conducted numerous workshops on creating and producing websites for regional media in USA, Russia, Central Asia and the Baltic states.
Photographer. Jan started his career in the art of photography in Germany , in 2000, with Schneider-Press, one of the biggest German press agencies. Besides he has been cooperating with print press and agencies like Sueddeutsche Zeitung, German Press Agency (dpa), Gnoni-Press, and Artografica. Since the early years of his career Jan has run own photo studio and works on different projects. One of these projects was an art-house film, “Road to Fokstugu” premiered in Munich’s IMAX Theatre in July 2004 and showed afterwards in sixteen cities of Germany including Berlin and Hamburg. In 2008 his work “Cover page” he shot for “The Prague Post” won the “Award of Excellence” in the European Newspaper Awards. Recently he published his first book for Nescafe. His photos are published in newspapers and magazines all over Europe and overseas.
Radio and television journalist. Stanislav founded Ukraine's first commercial radio station. The owner of the country’s largest regional media holding company, he is an expert in modern media operations, from technical to financial.
Media activist and independent media expert. Aleksej coordinates development of media projects, security and promotion of various non-governmental organizations in Belarus and Central Asia. Currently, Aleksej is the lead of a training center for journalists in new media technologies. As a consultant and technical trainer, he has worked with organizations including the Pact, Internews, the International Republican Institute, and the Soros Foundation in Central Asia.
